Moving to Cambodia, farewell Sydney

After 27 years in our Sydney warehouse we are moving to Cambodia, Battambang.

We have everything packed onto a container and were set to leave in 23 hours. T’is a great feeling, its a mixture of happiness, exhaustion and sadness to be leaving friends. But basically we feel the sense of calmness. We have a lunch with friends today and then a final dinner with other friends tonight. Sydney has been really good for us. We will miss you. But Cambodia is not far, so come visit us soon, or why don’t you join us in moving to Cambodia?

Follow us on this blog to see our creation of our new home and our discovery of this magical country we now call home.

From our Sydney warehouse, we are Moving To Cambodia

The wallpaper in my down stairs atelier received so many comments from friends and clients. My usual reply simply was, ‘It’s expensive, as you need to buy a xerox to make the wallpaper.’
The west side wall image was a tassel designed in the 18th Century that I used for an catalogue from a 1973 French tassel and trim catalogue called Des Dorelotiers Aux Passementiers. The eastern side wall was a line drawing I found of a strawberry in an artists journal. Another comment was, ‘How did you get them looking so wonderfully aged?’ That was simply done, I would reply, as they were pasted up about 25 years ago. Note that the very back wall in this room was only wallpapered about two years ago.

An empty Warehouse in Sydney

Apart from the furniture, the only other thing we did to the main room was the paint. With out us, its now not our home. Just an empty space. Follow our move to Cambodia.

    • It was an weird feeling walking in and seeing the empty space. It was no longer our home. Home is where the heart is, home is with our friends, and home is where my looms are.
