Welcome to Indochine, our third guest room here at Bric-à-Brac Battambang.
It was a snap decision: “Let’s make a third guest room by dividing our huge office in half. There is already is a bathroom constructed to the room , so let’s get the masonry guys in to make the dividing wall,” Robert said.
The room is similar spacious to our 25 sq m/220 sq ft Coloniale room, and equally high 4 m/13 ft ceiling. Inspired by the French motifs of IndoChina, with cool green original floor tiles, its walls are distress painted finish, consisting of several layers, to harmonize with the colors of the decaying building across the road. In sharp juxtaposition, we’ve covered this new wall with a stylish dusty pink grasscloth, and insulation soundproofing to guarantee a quiet night’s sleep. Indochine boasts a mahogany queen-size base with specially designed rattan springs, all natural fibre mattress with 7-zone springs, quality linen and cotton bedsheets, colonial ceiling fan painted deco silver, mini-fridge and complimentary high-speed wi-fi.
My original 20-year-old hemp and jute design tassels adorn the decorative mosquito netting canopying the bed. Period piece Victorian arm chair with Asian fabric, antique fret mirror frame, and deco reproduction chifforobe, similar to one at the Governor’s mansion here in Battambang. We’re having it’s replica specially commissioned for our room, and it’s going to be divine.
