Our recent renovations are inspired by the Japanese concept of wabi-sabi, embracing and  glorifying transience and natural ageing.

We’ve preserved the building’s original features and distressed finishes, sealing them under layers of glaze, styling our rooms with antiques and  period pieces from across Asia. Floors range from vintage Battambang green swirl-motif tiles to very contemporary highly-glazed polished concrete replete with Persian carpets.

You're in good company...

“As the first person to stay in the coloniale room, I want to hit a “love” button, not just a “like” one. I felt so comfortable and ‘at home’ in my room. It was as if I was sleeping in history – but with all the mod cons – really enjoyed sitting at my desk or on the balcony watching the daily pattern of Battambang life unfold. Robert and Morrison’s speciality of nurturing comes to the fore.”

Robert and Morrison are wonderful hosts with a unique B and B. The rooms are comfortable and fun and the hospitality is the best. A wonderful place to start or end your trip to Cambodia. Unlike any other part of the country.

Bric-a-Brac is located as centrally as one could wish in charming Battambang…. on a prominent corner close to the river, the central market, and the best coffee shop and restaurants. Hosts Robert and Morrison have managed a gorgeous, sensitive renovation of this beautiful old building, and created a comfortable place to stay for those seeking a unique environment with just a few spacious and curiously decorated rooms. They are friendly, well-informed hosts with a great feel for the local culture and cuisine. The showroom downstairs is a perfect place to find some treasures to take home. There is plenty to do in and around this fascinating city – and Bric-a-Brac is the perfect home base!

While cycling the streets of Battambang, we discovered “Bric-a-Brac” and ventured in. To our surprise and delight, we discovered many hidden treasures within the design showroom from the advertised fine textiles, tassels, antiques and collectables to the 3-room deluxe B&B, decorated with fabulous furnishings collected from many years of explorations in SE.Asia. The real treasure was meeting the most engaging owners, Morrison and Robert, who entertained us for over an hour, with stories of textiles & tassels, food and “finds” and “must see’s” locally, and allowed us to take a self guided tour of their B & B. We came away with a few small treasures that could fit in our panniers and more of an appreciation of fine fabrics and finishings, fantastic fondue recipes and where to find the best fish sauce! I highly recommend a visit to “Bric-a-Brac”. All rooms are exquisitely decorated with antiques, each one special and unique in their own way.
